چکیده

In this paper we present a new multimodal locomotion user interface that enables users to travel through 3D environments displayed in geospatial information systems (GISs), e.g., Google Earth or Microsoft Virtual Earth. When using the proposed interface the geospatial data can be explored immersively using stereoscopic visualization on a head-mounted display (HMD). When using certain tracking approaches the entire body can be tracked in order to support natural traveling by real walking. Moreover, intuitive devices are provided for both-handed interaction such as gestures to complete the navigation process. We introduce the setup as well as associated interaction concepts.

Approaching a New Multimodal GIS-Interface

Geospatial information is used in emergency management centers, architectural bureaus, environmental protection offices and daily life. Not only are trained experts using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) but novices, e.g. government employees, rescue workers and the general public, also use GIS. Despite the success of various GIS applications, their current use and usability is still constr...

Modeling different decision strategies in a time tabled multimodal route planning by integrating the quantifier-guided OWA operators, fuzzy AHP weighting method and TOPSIS

The purpose of Multi-modal Multi-criteria Personalized Route Planning (MMPRP) is to provide an optimal route between an origin-destination pair by considering weights of effective criteria in a way this route can be a combination of public and private modes of transportation. In this paper, the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process (fuzzy AHP) and the quantifier-guided ordered weighted averaging (...

Immersive Audio HMI to Improve Situational Awareness

Humans’ are multimodal beings that perceive their environment with all their senses, which allows them to create situational awareness (van Laack, 2014). For driver vehicle interaction the idea of multimodality has been neglected in the past and displays became the most common information output in a cockpit. To handle the significant increase of traffic complexity and information availability ...

Gesture and Speech-Based Maps to Support Use of GIS for Crisis Management: A User Study

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have the potential to provide critical support during crisis situations. Unfortunately, most GIS require expert knowledge to operate and do not support collaboration between decision makers. A human-centered systems approach was used to develop the prototype of a multimodal, dialog-assisted visual environment for geoinformation (DAVE_G) that will support col...
